Start as a profitable Bitcoin Blogger(Click here to go skip intro & go to Step1 right away)
My free guide on this page will show you how to create a blog that is beautiful and functional, all in an easy step-by-step tutorial (with pictures).
First let me introduce myself. My name is Jelmer Steenhuis and I’m going to show you how to setup a blog from the beginning. I’m a former programmer and a little bit tech-geek and have been building websites since 2006. In that period I launched several websites and participated a lot of IT-projects. Also, I’m a strong Bitcoin believer from the beginning and ‘HODLER’ of Bitcoin since 2013.
I know that starting a blog can seem overwhelming and intimidating. This free guide is all about blogging for starters, and will teach you how to be a bitcoin blogger with just the most basic digital skills needed. In this digital age, digital talent is all we need isn’t it?
What is a blog all about
A blog can be described as an online webpage that focuses mainly on written content, also known as blog posts. In popular culture, we most often hear about news blogs or celebrity blog sites, but as we live in 2019, you can start a successful blog on just about any topic imaginable.
Bloggers often write from a personal perspective that allows them to connect directly with their readers. This perspective is very beneficial, because it’s YOU who gives an opinion about a certain subject and YOU are the only one who deals with the consequences or gains the profits.
How to be a bitcoin blogger
Also, most blogs also have a “comments” section where readers can correspond with the blogger. Interacting with your readers in the comments section helps to further the connection between the blogger and the reader. This is a way of building trust among readers and they will return to your site more often.
One of the misconceptions about starting a blog is that you need to be a great writer to be successful. Nothing could be further from the truth. People read blog sites to get a personal perspective on things, so most bloggers write in a very informal and conversational style. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s your blog and readers will want to hear your personal opinion.
In addition, you don’t need to be an expert on your topic in order to have a successful blog. For example, readers of an expensive cars blog don’t want to read a textbook from a car mechanic, they want to hear the experiences of someone who has actually used the car, including the potential disadvantages.
Can you be profitable with a blog in 2019
Blogging is an online industry which is quite old and with the rise of several social media platforms, there are lots of channels people use to express themselves nowadays. So with all those other online platforms out there; Is it still profitable to start a blog in 2019? The answer is yes! Let me explain why.
A few years back, blogging was just another hobby that some people did in addition to working full-time jobs. Today, blogging still functions in that way, but a lot has changed. In 2019, blogging has become a profitable online profession. One of the main reasons is that our daily life more and more shifts towards online activities whether it’s for working or private activities. More and more people are looking for answers online or use it as a second opinion.
Tasks of a Bitcoin blogger
One of the main tasks of a blogger is to give information or educate people on a certain subject. A blogger(when performed the right way) should meet a certain demand for information. With millions or even billions of people going online every day, this demand is a very huge potential.
Now that we know that the potential demand is huge, what are the ways to start earning real cash or (bitcoin) and start being profitable from it?
Various ways to get an income as Bitcoin blogger
To be a modern blogger and earn a good income from it there are various ways to do so which are still in its infancy:
- Ad Networks like AdSense
- Direct advertisements
- Affiliate marketing
- Paid reviews/ sponsored posts
- Sell digital products(eBooks, blueprints)
- Launch an online course
- Offer online consulting services
- Offer your digital skills
For starting a blog about bitcoin I would advise you to start with affiliate marketing. The Bitcoin market is rising very fast and so are the online solutions in that segment. There’s a lot of trading platforms, hosting providers and Blockchain projects offering referral programs. These referrals are a profitable way you can use in your blog posts to monetize it.
Step 1: Choose a blog name and get online
The first step is to choose your topic and find a proper name which easily will get in the heads of your potential readers. How to do this? In our case the topic is clear: it should cover Bitcoin or something related to it. This could be very broad and here’s a list of related topics :
- Altcoins(Litecoin, Ethereum, EOS, Cardano)
- Blockchain technology
Start as a Bitcoin blogger & Choose topic
Also, it’s very important what kind of blog you want to setup. In my opinion there are two options:
- Blog about a specific topic – In this case you want to start as a Bitcoin blogger or something related to it. The main topic is Bitcoin or cryptocurrency and target a specific audience with it.
- Personal blog – In this case you want to write about YOU and the interests you have. By doing this you should start seeing yourself as a brand. The benefit of this is that you don’t need to write about a certain topic all the time but all thing related to your interests.
Once you have some bitcoin blog name ideas you will need to choose a domain extension. A .com domain extension is the most preferred, but .net or .org work as well.
It is also important to note that for the purposes of a blog domain you cannot have any spaces between words. So “Blogging Bitcoin Daily” becomes bloggingbitcoindaily.com.
Now that you’ve got your name and have picked an extension it’s time to make sure that no one else has already registered the same name.
Get your blog online and become a Bitcoin blogger
So at this point it’s clear for you what the name of your blog should be. The next step is to get this name registered online. What you need right now is a hosting provider and some professional blogging software. Don’t worry too much about that, because nowadays most hosting providers offer packaged solutions which includes software for setting up a blog.
Personally I use Hostinger for running my blog which also offers WordPress as the software for running a blog. Below the main reasons why it’s easy to setup this at their site:
- It’s free to register your blog name and they will make sure the domain name belongs to you
- Installation of WordPress and related templates is totally free
- It’s a proven third party which hosts millions of other websites
- 24/7 customer service
- Money back guarantee in case you want to cancel your plans
Hostinger allows bitcoin payments
Another important reason I used this hosting provider is that they allow you to pay in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. As a blog about Bitcoin, this was a pre for me and a reason to use their service instead of other hosting providers. Of course, this is all optional and you have to make up your mind yourself about this.
Step 2: Customize your blog
Next step for becoming a profitable bitcoin blogger is to customize your blog. What does this mean? At this point, you have chosen a hosting provider and installed WordPress as blogging software.
What should you do now?
Log in at WordPress for the first time
First of all you will need to login to your blog. Go to “http://www.yourblog.com/wp-admin” to bring up the login screen (replace “yourblog.com” with your domain name). If you are unsure of your login name or password, check the email that was sent to you from Hostinger that has this information.
Configuring a modern theme
Once you login you will be in the WordPress administrator area. This is where you can make any changes you want to your blog. The look-and-feel of your website is subjective and everybody has different ideas about it. One of the great things about a WordPress blog is that you can change your entire layout and design with just a few clicks.
In WordPress, blog layouts are known as “Themes”. These themes control the entire design of your blog. To change your theme you are going to click on the “Appearance” tab on the left menu.
Default WordPress themes
WordPress has already installed several default themes to choose for you on your blog: Twenty Seventeen, Twenty Sixteen, etc. These are well-designed, clean-looking themes that can work for just about any type of blog. In fact, many of the most famous and successful bloggers use one of these themes. Unless you have a very specific design in mind for your blog, I suggest you use one of these themes to start blogging Bitcoin with it.
For our example, let’s use the “Twenty Fiveteen” theme. In order to activate the theme on your blog, hover over the theme and click the “Activate” button. That’s all for now! You have changed the entire design of your blog with just one click!
Install your favourite theme
Of course there are many more choices to make when it comes to setting up a theme. If you are creative or not happy with the current default themes you can search for a different theme very easy. All you have to do is click the “Add” button and you can search for a new theme here:
The search theme screen appears. There are lots of options to choose and you can use a filter by this. Choose “Feature filter” and “Apply filters”.
Next step is to browse to all the available themes out there and if you find the proper want just click “Install” button.
Last step is to really activate your chosen theme. This is very simple: After the installation is completed just click the “Install” button. To check if your new theme actually works go to your blog url in your browser and refresh. The new theme should be active on your blog now!
Step 3: Building your blog website and publish content
If you are already logged in to WordPress then you can click on “Dashboard” in the left menu. For signing in choose ‘http://www.yourblog.com/wp-admin’ to bring up the login screen (replace “yourblog.com” with your domain name). If you are unsure of your login name or password, check the email that was sent to you from Hostinger that has this information.
This is the dashboard overview gives you the possibility to start building on your website. This dashboard page contains three sections:
- Tool bar – This contains links to the most commonly used administrative functions and resources. For example, if you hover over your website’s name, it shows a hyperlink to your public page. It also displays simple notifications like updates and new comments count.
- The main navigation menu on the left-hand side. It contains links to all administrative screens of WordPress. Here you have the option to customize your site settings or configure widgets.
- The main work area.
WordPress is very famous in the ease of use of external plugins. For instance, if you have a certain plan or social media strategy then it’s very easy to search and install the required plugin. Below an overview of the page of WordPress where you can install your favourite plugins.
Next, I’m going to show you how to search and install your requested plugin.
The example above searches for ‘All in One SEO’. In the results view, chose this plugin and hit ‘Install’. This will install the plugin on your website. After it’s finished installing you have to activate this plugin before you can use it. Hit ‘Activate’ button.
Here is a list of 3 essential plugins that every bitcoin blog must have:
- Yoast SEO will let you optimize your posts much easier with the latest SEO practices.
- Akismet Anti-Spam will keep your comment section clean and spam-free.
- Jetpack offers a bundle of features related to security, performance, statistics and more!
Creating blog posts and web pages
The Pages section does exactly what it says. You can use it to create more web pages on your blog (such as About; Contact and similar).
Meanwhile, the Posts section will be your most visited area, as all new blog posts will be created there.
That’s all for now! You now know how to start your own blog and publish content!
|Something to know|
|This tutorial in starting a blog from scratch with WordPress is very basic. If you really want to start a blogging website, but not ready for the technical challenges, I would advice you to buy this useful book at BitDegree. Step 4: Promote your bitcoin blog
Now that you have a fancy designed blog, your next task is to grow your audience and attract lot’s of traffic. There are no limits in this and it really comes to the discipline and patience. Growing from zero is a tough job and you have to be patient with this, but I assure you the good times will come and they will be sweet!
Creating quality content
No matter what you’re doing, having a well thought out plan is essential. Not only will it make your work and results more efficient, but will also give a clearer vision of where you’re headed.
Most blogs generate new users through organic traffic. And the best way to do it is through high-quality posts. Hence, you’ll need to remember one golden rule: content is king. One of the main tools you must use is SEO. SEO means ‘Search Engine Optimization‘ and is a content strategy which will help you to generate organic(free) traffic to your bitcoin blog, time after time.
Social media & Email marketing
To get readers to your blog it’s essential that you use several social media platforms for this. Nowadays, almost everybody below 40 is active on social media somehow so this isn’t too difficult. I also would strongly recommend to install a social media sharing plugin for every blogpost you make(See Step 3 about plugins).
In addition to getting new readers to your blog, you will also want to make sure your current readers are coming back. This is where email marketing plays a big role. By collecting the email addresses of your visitors (with their permission of course), you can then notify them when you post something new on your blog.
Step 5: Earn Bitcoin from blogging
Once you have put in the effort of creating great blog content and promoting your blog, making money from your blog is actually the easy part. In this case, your niche is Bitcoin or anything related to cryptocurrency. To earn Bitcoin from blogging is possible by joining affiliate programs who actually pay in Bitcoin. Good examples are:
These are just examples but with this fast growing market the ways to join affiliate programs which actually pays in Bitcoin are growing also.
Other ways to monetize your Bitcoin blog
There are several ways you can make money blogging, from selling your own products or services, to getting paid to write reviews of products on your blog. But the easiest way to make money from your blog is to sell advertising space.
Once you have a popular blog, advertisers will be hounding you for the opportunity to advertise. The best way to take advantage of this situation is to use Google Adsense. They find the advertisers for you and all you have to do is place the Google Adsense code on your blog to start running ads. Google Adsense takes all of the hard work out of the process and just cuts you a check.
Done… If you came this far then I will congratulate you with your new online business! Good times ahead and a lot of success setting your first steps as a profitable Bitcoin blogger!
